Day #1 - Facts about beer!

Bet your never knew these facts!

After consuming a vibrant brew called Aul or Ale, the Vikings would go fearlessly to the battlefield, without their armour, or even their shirts. The "Berserk" means "bear shirt" in Norse, and eventually to the meaning of wild battles.

On October 17 of 1814, a rupture in a brewery tank containing 3,500 barrels of beer caused a flood of fatal proportions in the London parish of St. Giles. The wave of beer swept victims off their feet, dashed them against walls, and buried them under debris. Two houses were demolished in the sea of beer suddenly loosed upon town, and nine people lost their lives in the flood of suds.

The first beer cans were produced in 1935.

Over 35 billion gallons of beer are sold each year. Compare that to around 46 billion gallons of bottled water being produced each year and you realize that we drink nearly as much beer as bottled water.

A meadophile is a person who studies beer bottles.

A pint of Guinness has a whopping 210 calories!
